In EZShift, you can divide each day into shift types for better organization and automation. This feature is useful for several reasons:
Employee Availability Employees can set their availability by shift name rather than just by time range. For example, an employee can mark that they’re unavailable for Monday mornings - and “Morning” can represent several shifts grouped under that label.
Filtering the Schedule Board You can easily filter the work schedule by shift types.
Smart Rules and Limitations You can create advanced rules based on shift names - for example, waiters cannot be assigned more than two morning shifts per week.
Shift Tags
Sometimes, you’ll want to be even more precise when defining your scheduling rules. That’s where Shift Tags come in. For example, you might create a category called “Long Shifts”,and set a rule that ensures long shifts are rotated fairly among employees, helping to prevent fatigue or burnout.
How to Access Shift Settings
From the Settings screen, go to Basic Shift Setting.
How to Set Up Shift Names and Tags
Both the Shift Names and Shift Tags setup screens work in the same way.
You’ll need to complete two simple actions:
1. Define the Name
To Create a new shift name or tag, click the ➕ plus button
To edit or rename a shift or tag , click the ✏️ pencil icon
2. Assign Shifts
Click the 🏷️ tag icon to assign shifts to Shifts Names or Tags.
Tip
Well-structured shift names and categories make it easier to apply smart rules, simplify filtering, and give both managers and employees a clearer view of the schedule.
